Timing could not have been better to view the Sunday brunch buffet in the Thirteen Moons Restaurant at the Village. Chef Reaux asked, "What do you think?".... ,"Incredible," I replied, as the culinary choices before me brought back memories of one my favorite Sunday brunch buffets, a modest version of Atlanta's landmark Renaissance ® Waverly Hotel in the Galleria. Moments later, a lovely southern lady addressed chef Reaux forthrightly. She asked, "Is it going to be this good every week? Promise... promise me it will be this good every week and we'll be back." As if she had a child by the ear in a state of admonition, awaiting an answer and satisfied with nothing less, I watched in awe as renowned nationally celebrated, Chef James Reaux, in his crisp fine white egyptian cotton chefs jacket respectfully responded with "yes Mam, I promise." Receiving a satisfactory reply; she turned and refreshed her plate. We knew we had just met our employer; the customer.

Commitment to the best of ingredients has brought chef James Reaux to the tables of six presidents, both Bush Presidents, Clinton, Reagan, Ford and Carter, and is now creating your dining experience in the Thirteen Moons Restaurant at the Nantahala Village. Chef Reaux is regarded as one of the nation's most highly acclaimed chefs and has only recently lead culinary operation of nineteen kitchens, restaurants, private dining, and banquet operations for The famed Boca Raton Resort. He has also served as Executive or Sous Chef at Los Angeles- Century Plaza Hotel & Towers, Hawaii's exotic Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, famed Hilton Head's Westin Resort, New York's distinguished and incomparable Plaza Hotel, the legendary Interlaken, Switzerland's Victoria Jun-Frau and West Virginia's historic since 1776, "Greenbrier Resort". And featured on the “The Today Show” with interpretive creations of the Movie Academy's famous "Oscar" Awards."

Lastly "I've fallen in love with the people, mountains, and history of this region. I'm especially interested in the indomitable spirit of the Cherokee people."
