Sunday Brunch at the Thirteen Moons Restaurant in Historic Nantahala
Village Resort and Spa is a welcome return to those of us who remember
Sunday dining at Nantahala Village. Where it more than lives up to
it's promise of an impressive Sunday Brunch Buffet. Multiple starters,
entrees, sides and nothing but, home made deserts.
My timing could not
have been better, walking into the Cherahola Hall in The Nantahala
Village, Sunday morning, at the Thirteen Moons Restaurant, to view
the smorgasbord prepared, as Chef Reaux approached me from the kitchen
with, "what do you think".... ,"Incredible,"
I replied, as the culinary creation brought back memories of my
favorite Sunday brunch, Atlanta's landmark Renaissance Waverly Hotel
in the Galleria. While taking all this in; a lovely refined, Southern,
stately, lady walked up and addressed chef Reaux forthrightly, catching
us both off guard, commanding an answer, she ask, "is it going
to be this good every week?." Before Chef Reaux could respond,
"promise... promise me it will be this good, consistently,
every week and We'll be back." As if she had a child by the
ear in a state of admonition, awaiting an answer and would be satisfied
with nothing less. I watched, in awe, as renowned, nationally celebrated,
world traveled, Chef James Reaux, stood at attention in his crisp,
fine white, Egyptian cotton, still embroidered with the "Chop
House" logo, chefs jacket and responded respectfully with the
only acceptable acknowledgement..."yes Mam, I promise."
Receiving a satisfactory reply to her petition; she abruptly turned
to the buffet and filled her plate. We both knew, we had just met
the person in-charge; the customer.
Personal commitment to procurement of the
best ingredients available has brought chef James Reaux to the tables
of six Presidents, both President Bushes, Clinton, Reagan, Ford
and Carter and is now, along with Executive Chef Karl Engelmann,
& Thirteen Moons Restaurant manager Jeff Kemp creating your
dinning experience in the Thirteen Moons Restaurant @ The Nantahala
Village Resort & Spa. Chef Reaux is truly regarded as one of
