- Fontana Lake

Fontana Lake has miles and miles of scenic area to explore. Boat rentals are available through Almond Boat Dock which is only 5 miles from the Nantahala Village. For perfect lake swimming or quiet paddling, there is a portion of Fontana Lake that does not have access for motorized boats and is only three miles from the Village.

- Tsali Recreation Area
|
Tsali is best known for it's mountain biking trails. These trails are challenging for both the mountain bike novice and the more experienced bikers. The Tsali trails are well marked and maintained and provide views of Fontana Lake. There is also a boat ramp and camp sites for public use in the Tsali Recreation Area. Tsali is less than 10 miles from the Nantahala Village.

- Smoky Mountain Jet Boats

Take a ride on a 15 passenger jet boat on Fontana Lake. The boats go fast, are highly maneuverable, quiet, and captained by a professional jet boat driver. The ride is suitable for ages 5 and older, a great family fun adventure.

- Appalachian Trail

The Trail crosses the highway three miles from the lodge. There are many places in the area to pick up the trail. For the more adventuresome, take a day hike to Wesser Bald, Cheoah Bald, or Wayah Bald.

- Fontana Dam
|
This immense dam, creating Fontana Lake, was built in the 1940's as part of a power generation effort for the war. Drop by the visitors center for the story in pictures, and ride the cable car into the dam itself. A great 1/2 day trip for kids and adults, and only 1/2 hour from Nantahala Village.
