The Nantahala Village Riding Stable is located on the property and is available to guests and the public. Harold and Virgie Loftis and their son David operate the stable and offer guided trips on trails in the Nantahala National Forest. No experience is necessary for your Western style trail ride. You are sure to enjoy views of Fontana Lake and some guests see (and hear!) the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad as it begins its journey through the Nantahala Gorge.
Whitewater Rafting
1 mile April thru October

The Nantahala River, located in Nantahala National Forest, is one of America's favorite whitewater playgrounds. Its ideal location at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, just a short distance from Cherokee and Bryson City, NC, makes the Nantahala River convenient to mountain vacationers.

Eight miles of clear water, constant waves and swift currents make the Nantahala River a delight for all ages and groups interested in an exhilarating introduction to whitewater rafting. The trip takes over 3 hours and contains numerous class I and II rapids, with a class III at the end.

1 mile April thru December
Enjoy a soaring and gliding experience naturally fueled by a gradual elevation change at Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours. It takes limited energy to participate and is not designed to scare with big drops as much as excite with smooth gliding. Nantahala Gorge Canopy Tours opened July, 2009 and is the first zipline/canopy tour facility in the area.
Each participant is provided with state of the art equipment including helmets, full body harnesses, trolley, gloves, tether lines, and two canopy rangers per group.
This brand bew three-hour experience gives you over 1/2 mile of air time.

1 mile April thru December
Nothing can prepare you for the thrill of this unique and exhilarating ride. We take you to Almond boat dock (just five minutes away) where you board the boat which takes you out on scenic Lake Fontana. With the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as your backdrop the ride is fun for all ages.
These boats are extremely maneuverable and can spin within their own length. We take a series of digital photos in case you want a souvenir or a CD to use in a photo story or to share with others your great experience.
Allow a total time of one hour - you are on the water about 35-40 minutes.

5 miles April thru December

Whether your preference is intense rapids or low-keyed rivers and lakes, our paddling program will help you make the most of your time on the water.

Comfortably outfitted in Wilderness System kayaks, any and all experience levels will enjoy this trip. Both scenic and informative, this will be a highlight of your visit to western North Carolina. Our guides will lead you on water trails around the lakes and into small tributaries, along the way identifying for you the flora, fauna, geology and history of the area.

5-12 miles Year Round
Western North Carolina boasts some of the best trout and small-mouth bass fishing in the Southeast. We offer fly fishing instruction and fly fishing trips with professional guide service. Fly fishing is a sport based on technique, finesse and a sense of the ecosystem surrounding you.

Time with one of our guides will help you on your way to developing proper casting techniques; learning where to catch fish, and what flies are most successful.

From Oct 1 to the first Saturday in June, enjoy delayed harvest season for trout fishing on the Upper Nantahala River and Tuckasegee River. This is a great time of the year to test your skills on Rainbow, Brown and Brook trout.
